Zilbrysq (zilucoplan)
Filled with a prescription and delivered free to your door, with help on prior authorization.
Zilbrysq is a medicine called a complement inhibitor. It is a lab-made peptide (a short chain of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins) that blocks a protein called C5, which is part of the immune system's complement system.
MedRx Infusion can fill Zilbrysq with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.
What Zilbrysq is prescribed for
- Generalized myasthenia gravis: adults with generalized myasthenia gravis (an immune disease that causes muscle weakness) who test positive for anti-acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibodies.
A prescription is required. Your prescriber decides whether Zilbrysq is right for you.
How Zilbrysq is given
Injection under the skin, given by you or a caregiver, after training. A nurse can show you or a caregiver how to give it.
Storage: Keep it in the refrigerator (36°F to 46°F) in its original carton to protect it from light, and do not freeze it. You may keep it at room temperature (up to 86°F) in the carton for one period of up to 3 months (write the date on the carton), but do not put it back in the refrigerator after that.
Before you start
Before the first dose, your prescriber may ask for:
- meningococcal vaccines (shots against meningococcal bacteria, groups A, C, W, Y and B) at least 2 weeks before the first dose; if treatment must start sooner, you get antibiotics and the vaccines as soon as possible
- vaccines against pneumococcus (bacteria that can cause pneumonia and other serious infections)
- a blood test of two pancreas enzymes (lipase and amylase)
- your prescriber must be enrolled in a restricted program (the Zilbrysq REMS), and you will get a wallet card (the Patient Safety Card) to carry with you at all times during treatment and for 2 months after it ends
Important safety information: This medicine has a boxed warning about serious, life-threatening meningococcal infections (infections of the blood or the lining of the brain). Because of this risk, it is only available through a restricted program called the Zilbrysq REMS.
Zilbrysq is available only through the Zilbrysq REMS, a safety program the FDA requires. MedRx Infusion is certified to dispense it.
