Xembify, immune globulin subcutaneous (human)-klhw
Filled with a prescription and delivered free to your door, with help on prior authorization.
Xembify is an immune globulin medicine made from human plasma (the liquid part of blood). It is infused under the skin with a pump. It gives your body IgG antibodies, which are proteins the immune system uses to fight germs. How it works is not fully known.
MedRx Infusion can fill Xembify with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.
What Xembify is prescribed for
- Primary humoral immunodeficiency (PI): people 2 years and older with PI (a group of conditions, often inherited, in which the body does not make enough working antibodies).
A prescription is required. Your prescriber decides whether Xembify is right for you.
How Xembify is given
Infusion under the skin, with a small pump, given by a healthcare professional, or you or a caregiver after training. A nurse can show you or a caregiver how to give it.
Storage: Keep it in the refrigerator (36°F to 46°F). You may keep it at room temperature (up to 77°F) for up to 6 months before the expiration date; after that, use it right away or throw it away. Do not freeze it.
Before you start
Before the first dose, your prescriber may ask for:
- a blood test to check how well your kidneys work
- for people at risk of thick blood (hyperviscosity), a blood test of how thick the blood is
- questions about IgA deficiency (very low levels of an antibody called IgA) and any past allergic reactions to immune globulin
- if you are switching from another immune globulin, a blood test of your IgG antibody level
Important safety information: This medicine has a boxed warning about the risk of blood clots (thrombosis).
