Nucala (mepolizumab)
Filled with a prescription and delivered free to your door, with help on prior authorization.
Nucala is a biologic medicine (a medicine made from living cells). It blocks IL-5, a protein that helps make and keep eosinophils (a type of white blood cell linked to inflammation).
MedRx Infusion can fill Nucala with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.
What Nucala is prescribed for
- Severe asthma: adults and children 6 years and older with severe asthma that is the eosinophilic type (linked to high levels of eosinophils); used as an add-on maintenance treatment (taken along with your other daily medicines), not for sudden breathing problems.
- Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP): adults 18 years and older with nasal polyps (growths in the nose and sinuses) that did not respond well enough to steroid nose sprays; used as an add-on maintenance treatment.
- COPD: adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, a long-term lung disease) that is not well controlled and is the eosinophilic type; used as an add-on maintenance treatment, not for sudden breathing problems.
- Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA): adults with EGPA (a rare disease that causes swelling of blood vessels and high eosinophil levels).
- Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES): adults and children 12 years and older who have had HES (very high eosinophil levels that can harm organs) for 6 months or longer, when no other cause outside the blood has been found.
