Micafungin is an antifungal medicine in a group called echinocandins. It blocks the making of beta-glucan, a building block of the fungus's cell wall. It is used for infections caused by Candida, a type of yeast.

MedRx Infusion can fill Micafungin with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.

What Micafungin is prescribed for

Candidemia and other serious Candida infections: adults and children 4 months and older with Candida in the blood (candidemia), Candida that has spread through the body (acute disseminated candidiasis), Candida infection of the belly lining (peritonitis) or abscesses; also babies younger than 4 months, if the infection has not spread to the brain or eyes.
Esophageal candidiasis: adults and children 4 months and older with a Candida infection of the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach).
Prevention of Candida infections in stem cell transplant: adults and children 4 months and older having a blood stem cell transplant (hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, HSCT).

How Micafungin is given

IV infusion, given by a healthcare professional. When your prescriber agrees it can be given at home, we send a skilled nurse from an accredited nursing agency to give it.
