Methotrexate (methotrexate)

Filled with a prescription and delivered free to your door, with help on prior authorization.

Methotrexate is a folate analog metabolic inhibitor, a medicine that blocks the body's use of folate (a B vitamin). This slows down fast-growing cells, such as cancer cells; how it works in arthritis and psoriasis is not known.

MedRx Infusion can fill Methotrexate with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.

What Methotrexate is prescribed for

  • Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL): adults and children with ALL (a fast-growing blood cancer), as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen.
  • Meningeal leukemia: adults and children, to prevent or treat leukemia that has spread to the lining of the brain and spinal cord.
  • Non-Hodgkin lymphoma: adults and children with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (a cancer of the lymph system).
  • Osteosarcoma: adults and children with osteosarcoma (a bone cancer), as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen.
  • Breast cancer: adults with breast cancer, as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen.
  • Head and neck cancer: adults with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, as the only cancer medicine (single agent).
  • Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN): adults with GTN (tumors that grow from tissue that forms during pregnancy), as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
  • Polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA): children with pJIA (arthritis in many joints that starts in childhood).
  • Severe psoriasis: adults with severe psoriasis (a skin condition with thick, scaly patches).
