HyQvia, immune globulin infusion (human), 10% with recombinant human hyaluronidase

Filled with a prescription and delivered free to your door, with help on prior authorization.

HyQvia is an immune globulin medicine made from human plasma (the liquid part of blood), packaged with a lab-made enzyme called hyaluronidase. The two are infused under the skin with a pump, one after the other. The immune globulin gives your body IgG antibodies, which are proteins the immune system uses to fight germs, and the enzyme helps it spread and soak in under the skin. How it works is not fully known.

MedRx Infusion can fill HyQvia with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.

What HyQvia is prescribed for

  • Primary humoral immunodeficiency (PI): adults and children 2 years and older with PI (a group of conditions, often inherited, in which the body does not make enough working antibodies).
  • Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP): adults with CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, a nerve condition that causes weakness and numbness in the arms and legs), as ongoing (maintenance) treatment to prevent relapse. It is started in people who are already on steady doses of immune globulin by vein.

A prescription is required. Your prescriber decides whether HyQvia is right for you.

How HyQvia is given

Infusion under the skin, with a small pump, given by a healthcare professional, or you or a caregiver after training. A nurse can show you or a caregiver how to give it.

Storage: Keep it in the refrigerator (36°F to 46°F) in its original carton to protect it from light, and do not freeze or shake it. You may keep it at room temperature (up to 77°F) for up to 3 months, as long as this is within 24 months of the manufacturing date on the carton; do not put it back in the refrigerator after that.

Before you start

Before the first dose, your prescriber may ask for:

  • a blood test to check how well your kidneys work
  • for people at risk of thick blood (hyperviscosity), a blood test of how thick the blood is

Important safety information: This medicine has a boxed warning about the risk of blood clots (thrombosis).

Read the Medication Guide and the full HyQvia prescribing information, and ask your prescriber or our pharmacists about side effects. Our pharmacists are on call 24 hours a day.
