Emgality (galcanezumab-gnlm)

Emgality is a biologic medicine called a monoclonal antibody (a lab-made protein). It attaches to a protein called CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide), which is thought to play a part in migraine and cluster headache, and stops it from working.

MedRx Infusion can fill Emgality with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.

What Emgality is prescribed for

Migraine prevention: adults with migraine, as a preventive treatment (a medicine used on a regular schedule, not to treat an attack that has already started).
Episodic cluster headache: adults with episodic cluster headache (very painful headaches on one side of the head that come in groups, or cluster periods, with pain-free times in between).

A prescription is required. Your prescriber decides whether Emgality is right for you.

How Emgality is given

Injection under the skin, given by you or a caregiver, after training. A nurse can show you or a caregiver how to give it.

Storage: Keep it in the refrigerator in its original carton to protect it from light, and do not freeze or shake it. If needed, it can stay in the carton at room temperature (up to 86°F) for up to 7 days, but then do not put it back in the refrigerator.

Before you start

Insurance and prior authorization

Health plans often require prior authorization for Emgality. Our intake team checks your coverage and works with your prescriber’s office on the paperwork before your first delivery.

The manufacturer runs a support program, Emgality Savings Card, that may help eligible patients with costs and access.
