Dificid (fidaxomicin)
Filled with a prescription and delivered free to your door, with help on prior authorization.
Dificid is an antibiotic (a macrolide). It blocks an enzyme (RNA polymerase) that C. diff bacteria need to make RNA. Very little of it passes from the gut into the blood.
MedRx Infusion can fill Dificid with a prescription and deliver it free to your door.
What Dificid is prescribed for
- C. diff diarrhea: adults and children 6 months and older with diarrhea caused by Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) bacteria.
A prescription is required. Your prescriber decides whether Dificid is right for you.
How Dificid is given
Taken by mouth. We ship it to your door.
Storage: Store the tablets at room temperature (68°F to 77°F) in the original bottle. Once the liquid (oral suspension) is mixed, keep it capped in the refrigerator and throw away what is left after 12 days.
Before you start
Before the first dose, your prescriber may ask for:
- a check that the diarrhea is caused by C. diff, or that this is strongly suspected
Read the Medication Guide and the full Dificid prescribing information, and ask your prescriber or our pharmacists about side effects. Our pharmacists are on call 24 hours a day.
