Copaxone (glatiramer acetate)
Filled with a prescription and delivered free to your door, with help on prior authorization.
Copaxone is a lab-made medicine built from a mix of protein building blocks (amino acids). Doctors do not fully know how it works in multiple sclerosis (MS), but it is thought to change how the immune system acts.
MedRx Infusion can fill Copaxone with a prescription and deliver it free to your door. This page also covers Glatopa (glatiramer acetate).
What Copaxone is prescribed for
- Relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS): adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (a disease where the immune system attacks the covering of nerves in the brain and spinal cord). This includes clinically isolated syndrome (a first episode of MS-like symptoms), relapsing-remitting MS (flare-ups followed by periods of recovery) and active secondary progressive MS (MS that slowly gets worse but still has flare-ups).
A prescription is required. Your prescriber decides whether Copaxone is right for you.
How Copaxone is given
Injection under the skin, given by you or a caregiver, after training. A nurse can show you or a caregiver how to give it.
Storage: Keep it in the refrigerator and do not freeze it. If needed, you can keep it at room temperature (59°F to 86°F) for up to one month, away from heat and strong light.
Before you start
Important safety information: This medicine has a boxed warning about anaphylaxis (a sudden, severe allergic reaction that can be life-threatening). It can happen after the first dose or even years after starting, so you need to know the signs and get emergency care right away if they happen.
Read the Medication Guide and the full Copaxone prescribing information, and ask your prescriber or our pharmacists about side effects. Our pharmacists are on call 24 hours a day.
